Project services

From design to delivery, we offer a full suite of solutions – built to support your project at every phase.

Core services

From early design-assist to full delegated design, our engineers deliver mass timber systems that are structurally sound, coordinated, and ready to build. We align modeling, analysis, and connection detailing with design intent and site realities—resolving tolerances, interfaces, and sequencing before they reach the field.

Through a DfMA lens, we refine spans, panelization, and joints to minimize labor, speed up install, and ensure constructability. Every detail—from load paths to bolt access—is resolved with precision, so what’s drawn is ready to perform.

Our commitment to quality spans the full value chain—from strategic sourcing of lamstock to on-site scanning, sorting, kilning, and pressing. We utilize advanced CNC technology for cutting and finishing, ensuring accuracy at every step.

Each job is supported by in-house logistics experts who assess delivery windows, modes of transport, carbon footprint, cost, and more. Our factories optimize every phase of advanced manufacturing to produce high-performance timber panels at competitive pricing.

Every project is supported by a dedicated execution team working in lockstep from preconstruction through install. We align digital models with real-world constraints, sequencing every component through 4D BIM and just-in-time delivery.

Truckloads are planned by zone, elevation, and crane sequence. Staging yards, freight routes, and site access are optimized to reduce handling, avoid congestion, and keep installation moving. Combined with tight scope control and quality oversight, our approach delivers clarity, efficiency, and confidence—on every job, every time.

Our field crews bring deep mass timber experience to every site—coordinating across trades, protecting exposed finishes, and driving efficient installation. We offer flexible delivery models, from full-scope install to framing-only or consultative support, tailored to your build.

By reducing scope gaps and managing change with precision, we ensure smooth transitions from factory to field. With detailed logistics planning and strict quality control, every installation is efficient, cost-conscious, and risk-managed.

From Products to Projects

An integrated design process

MMT offers a unique value proposition: a fully integrated design, engineering, and construction partner with robust technology systems and large-scale buying power.

LOD 100

Conceptual Design

Conceptual Elements

The journey begins with high-level ideas: discrete components that represent design intent. At this stage, our focus is on understanding the project’s goals, structural typologies, and how mass timber can support the vision.

LOD 200

Schematic and Detailed Design

System Definition

In Schematic Design, we set primary spans, grids, and member sizes, aligning with architectural intent and site constraints. In Detailed Design, layouts and structural logic are refined with preliminary connection strategies, enabling coordinated design, early cost checks, and constructability planning.

LOD 300

Geometry Freeze

Surface and Volume Resolution

The Construction Documentation is developed further into precise, fabrication-aligned geometry. Member dimensions, orientations, materials, grades, fire ratings, and CLT layups are fixed, establishing the final dimensional framework ahead of detailing.

Our role flexes with the project: Design-Assist in early phases, Delegated Design as the scope advances.

LOD 350

Fabrication Approval

Detailing for Fabrication

With the mass timber system now defined, we zoom in on connections, hardware, and how systems interface. Shop-drawing level coordination begins here, alongside mechanical, electrical, and envelope integration.

LOD 400

Manufacturing

Fabrication-Ready

Modeling transitions into output. Every notch, hole, and fastener is defined and the production/delivery sequence is locked in. Files are generated for CNC production and QA processes are layered in. This is the handoff from virtual to physical.

LOD 500

Installation

Execution + Assembly

The outcome of this integrated effort is seen on-site—install-ready packages that reduce risk, compress schedules, and raise the bar for precision and performance.

Design to fabrication

At our factories, we use technology to translate your design into digital instructions for our machines. Our cross-laminated timber (CLT) panels are cut using state-of-the-art five-axis CNC gantry machines, resulting in high-quality components ready for shipping and installation.

From early Design-Assist to Delegated Design, our team refines spans, interfaces, and connection logic to reduce risk and labor. The result: systems that are easier to build and perform as engineered.

Applying design best practices creates a streamlined experience that cuts down on waste, reduces costs, and accelerates the building process.

Prefabrication in a controlled factory environment allows an unprecedented level of precision and predictability in the construction process.

Service FAQs

Mercer offers end-to-end mass timber delivery, including:

  • Design-assist and delegated design
  • Fabrication Approval
  • Mass timber supply and fabrication
  • Logistics and sequencing
  • Installation and framing support

We tailor our approach to match the needs of your team, whether you need full-scope support or targeted expertise.

Mass timber design-assist is an early-stage collaboration process where our engineers and construction specialists work alongside your design team to:

  • Optimize spans and layouts
  • Reduce hardware complexity
  • Align with factory capabilities
  • Anticipate field conditions

This approach minimizes scope gaps, reduces cost risk, and ensures constructability from day one.

Our preconstruction phase includes:

  • System selection and cost benchmarking
  • Connection strategy development
  • Draft logistics planning
  • Coordination with trades and structural engineers
  • Estimating and quantity takeoffs

We help you make informed decisions before fabrication begins.

Yes. Our construction services team offers flexible engagement options:

  • Full-scope install
  • Framing-only packages
  • Consultative support for GC-led crews

Our field teams are mass timber specialists – trained to protect finishes, coordinate trades, and resolve site issues with factory-informed knowledge.

Absolutely. We manage everything from just-in-time delivery to laydown planning, ensuring material arrives in sequence and aligned with the install schedule. We coordinate directly with GC teams, cranes, and site superintendents to keep things moving smoothly.

The earlier, the better. Bringing us in during schematic design or early DD allows us to shape structural decisions that drive efficiency, reduce cost, and streamline delivery.

We’re not just a manufacturer, we’re a delivery partner. Our teams span design, engineering, logistics, and field installation – providing a fully integrated solution that reduces handoffs and drives project success. Plus, with factories across North America, we’re able to localize supply and respond to your schedule.
